The river Nile sports challenge launched – Uganda safari news
The
destination Uganda in her bid to create a diverse tourist product, it
is working tooth and nail to tap into the sport tourism to add it to the
list of what to encounter by travelers on safaris in Uganda.
Supporting the golf tournament and other events in Kigezi region and the eventual partnership of Uganda Tourism Board with the Sports Tourism International (STI) along with other tourism stake holders to launch the source of the Nile corporate challenge can be considered as efforts that are directed to developing sports tourism in Uganda and increase with the Uganda safari products.
The Source of the Nile challenge launched under the theme “Unlocking the Potential of Sports Tourism in Uganda” is set to take place on 28th August running up to 30th in the adventure capital of Uganda - Jinja that is always encountered on Uganda safaris and tours.
It should be noted that for long the tourism product in Uganda featured Uganda gorilla safaris and wildlife safaris with less diversity in other fields. It is therefore considered as the high time the tourism circuit is widened to incorporate a range of products that will cater for the diverse interests of travelers that would wish to plan safaris to Uganda.
The Sport Tourism international works to ensure the active local community participation which will help to enhance their livelihood through tourism. Also branded as the East Africa’s Adventure capital, Jinja boasts of the Nile adrenalin that presents a myriad of water sports including the white water rafting, canoeing, bungee jumping and speed boating not forgetting the activities on the banks like horse back riding and quad biking coupled with a range of accommodation establishments in the area, Jinja stands as an ideal sports tourism destination and worth encountering while on a safari in Uganda.
The event is expected to attract close to a hundred (100) corporate teams and these are expected to come from Uganda, the East African region, South Sudan, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Egypt. The Source of the Nile corporate challenge will feature activities like swimming gala, birding race, football, quad biking, volleyball, kayaking/boat regatta and golf.
