Day 2 of the 6 days Mabamba wetland & Semuliki National Park bird watching tour Uganda

Early morning, your Uganda birding tour guide picks you up from your hotel in Entebbe after an early morning breakfast. The journey to Mabamba wetland starts in the morning driving 26km from Entebbe with a drive time of about 1h 12min. The perfect route you should take is the Kasenje route which includes a ferry crossing, the 23 minutes spent on the ferry offers the best time for water bird sightings. Mabamba wetland is the closest spot to find a shoebill from Kampala. Here anticipate to see bird species like the Swamp Flycatcher, White Winged Warbler, Papyrus Gonolek, African Water Rail, African Purple Swamp-hen, Common Moorhen, African Jacana, Lesser Jacana, Winding Cisticola and many more. After breakfast, you get to your 4x4 safari vehicle for a road drive to Semuliki national park for bird watching. You have a stop at the equator line in Kayabwe then continue with the drive for about 8 hours. Semuliki national park is the best birding destination in Uganda and popularly described as “The True Birders Haven”. The park hosts over 400 bird species within 220km2 surrounded with beautiful Borassus savannah and extensive grass lands that host bird species. Arriving in the evening, you check in, have dinner and rest at an accommodation in Semuliki National Park.
