The Albertine rift is a western branch of the East African rift crossing five counties that include the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and Uganda crossed by two large mountain ranges of Rwenzori and Virunga. Via Kampala-Hoima-Kyenjojo-Hoima road, the reserve is 268km with an estimated drive time of 5h 32min From Kampala, Kabwoya wildlife reserve is 232km via Kampala-Hoima road with an estimated drive time of 4h 16min. Via Kampala-Hoima and Kyenjojo-Hoima road, the reserve is 237km about 4h 33min.


From Kibale Forest National Park, the reserve is 168km via Kyenjojo-Hoima road with an estimated drive time of 3h 47min.

From Murchison Falls National Park, Kabwoya wildlife reserve is 171km away via Masindi-Hoima road taking a drive time of about 3h 30min.
