Big earnings from mountain gorillas-Gorilla safari news
Uganda has greatly earned from mountain gorillas and this has helped in developing the tourism sector with in the country. Uganda earned $220 million in the year 2008 from the mountain gorilla trekking safaris which
were carried out with in the country in Bwindi impenetrable national
park. These revenues have greatly helped in improving the tourism
sector.
Even though the country has a lot to offer in form of mountain gorilla tracking,
there are high chances that the revenues are to increase which will
help in developing the tourism sector. Reports show that over 842000
tourists visit Uganda every year in order to view the mountain gorillas.
The increase in the population of the mountain gorillas has greatly marketed Uganda as a tourist destination and this has helped in increasing the number of tourists who come for safaris to Uganda.
Mountain gorillas are commonly found in Bwindi impenetrable national
park, Volcanoes national park and also in Virunga national park.
The ministry has asserted that the mountain gorillas shouldn’t be used for financial gains since they can be conserved and preserved for the future. However, lack of legal frame work and policy to protect the mountain gorillas will eventually reduce the number of tourists who come to Uganda to track the gorillas.
