The event which is expected to attract counts of participants for the region is seen as a positive move to boost domestic tourism. The event which is to always take place every year and the funds gathered would be contributing to national park conservation, something that will work to ensure the continuity of Uganda safaris and tours.
The Tourism Board sees this move as a strategy through which some of the parks that have not been functioning well face promotion and also become self-sustaining. At the moment, Uganda has ten (10) national parks and twelve (12) game reserves but amazingly six of these are the only ones generating income that in turn support others.
The marathon event will feature impressive game drives, boat cruises of Lake Mburo, nature walk, remarkable foods and the fascinating people surrounding the park. This would prompt other world travelers to undertake safaris to Uganda to participate in this event.
