The Uganda Safari destination of Kidepo Valley National Park is one of the most celebrated wilderness national parks on the continent of Africa having scored 4th position among the best parks in Africa.
Kidepo located in the north east of Uganda in the Karamoja region is one of the less disturbed protected areas with minimal tourist number considering its distance from the country’s capital Kampala where a range of safaris in Uganda usually commences from.
In a study conducted by an online Netherlands’ based safari platform named Safari bookings.com, a range of 3,000 reviews were gathered from considerable safari adventurists and experts in the industry leading to the ranking
Other national parks in Uganda like Murchison Falls came in at 39th position while Queen Elizabeth National Park came in 34th Position in the Africa’s best 50 safari packs which is an indication of Uganda’s potential in attracting more world travelers to planning wildlife safaris to Uganda.
The ranking also put into consideration the views of the authors of travel guides including the Bradt, the Lonely Planet, Frommer’s, Rough guides and the Foot print. The study included a count of 138 national parks gathered from countries re-known for safaris including Uganda and the parks which are known for classic wildlife safari were incorporate in the study. The parks like Bwindi and Kibale which are known for gorilla trekking safaris in Uganda and chimpanzee trekking safaris in Uganda respectively could not be included in the study as they have less safari viewing element.
Kidepo Valley National Park is noted to have received 4,091 travelers that visited it while on safari in Uganda and is remarkably re-known for its amazing wild game including lions, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, elands, buffaloes, and roan antelopes among other wild life that is found nowhere else in Uganda. The park is increasingly gaining interest in the eyes of travelers in Uganda safaris and tours since the stability in the area has been restored. The hindrance at the moment is the road connectivity which needs to be attended to.
This is not first time for Kidepo to rank higher since two years past, it had ranked the 3rd best park in Africa by CNN. These and so many accolades bestowed upon Uganda are seen as a positive move through which the country can build a rich ground and prompt a range of travelers to always plan a safari to Uganda.
