The nyagan takes the mantle as miss tourism for karamoja region – Uganda safari news

nyaganConsidering the invention of Miss Tourism Uganda about two (2) years ago spearheaded by the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities the beauty pageant has rolled expeditiously to various parts of the country inclosing the remote areas of Karamoja region which have been less explored buy travelers that undertake safaris in Uganda.
The evening of selecting the Miss Tourism Karamoja was by no means ordinary and the Mount Moroto Hotel was equipped up to teeth with the bottles of beer rolling on the tables as a range of people including those on Uganda safaris flocked the building to be part of this remarkable moment.
The seven contestants did the respective cat walk followed by answering the respective questions from the panel judges and demonstration of counts of cultural wear to bring out the heritage of Karamoja in detail. Since Karamoja is known as one of the influenced area by the modernity, everyone was keen at unleashing the authenticity of their impressive heritage. This fame has at time promoted the world travelers to plan safaris to Uganda to have an encounter with these people.
The Uganda Tourism Board’s Sylvia Kalemba was eager to announce the runner ups as the guests sat at the edge of their seats in anticipation of what the winner would be. The Second runner up turned out to be Grace Nyagan while the first runner up became Acheng Celestine. The function was blessed with the attendance of the Moroto Deputy Resident District Commissioner Helen Pulkol who wooed the investors, Uganda safari undertakers and the business community to visit and set up establishments in Karamoja. The chief guest noted in bid to look for a sustainable means through which Karamoja can be healed from the scars of cattle rustling.
The event was marked with lots of drinking, dancing to the tunes of the Karamojong music, the Kadodi of the east, the Congo’s Lingala and the Chameleon latest hit Wale Wale which features the life in Karamoja region. The function was indeed colorful with the counts of NGO operators in the area in attendance. These people are apparently forming good count of travelers that do Uganda safari tours.
