The season for discounted gorilla permits is on in Uganda – gorilla safari news

gorilla safari-imageUganda the Pearl of Africa has almost a half of the world’s critically endangered mountain gorillas. It’s Bwindi impenetrable National Park alone contains 400 out of 880 mountain gorillas that are apparently thriving in the world with none in captivity. This in turn has made gorilla trekking safaris and tours to flourish in Uganda.
The need to conserve these precious species saw the emergence of gorilla tourism to make gorilla conservation more meaningful to the state and the communities that surround their habitats. A range of world travelers have always undertaken gorilla safaris in Uganda contributing enormous sums of dollars to the economy of which a percentage of this money goes back to the community. Initially, the 5% of each gorilla permit was given to the community that surround the park where gorillas live but effective the coming July the money will be doubled. That is seen as a move that will see gorilla tourism becoming a reality to the local communities and enhancing their livelihood.
The usual gorilla trekking permit in Uganda goes for $600 for a foreign nonresident ad $500 for a foreign resident while the East Africa citizens contribute 250,000/=. At times this money seem to be a bit high to some potential Uganda gorilla trekking safari undertakers and in a bid to strike a favorable ground, the Uganda Wildlife Authority offers discounted gorilla permits in the months of April, May and November.
The discounted gorilla permits provides a rich ground for undertaking cost effective gorilla tours in Uganda. The foreign nonresident is charged $350 while the foreign resident is charged $300 while the East African citizen pays 150,000/=.
Therefore undertaking a gorilla safari in the above mentioned months saves your some dollars without affecting the experience.
