In the Rubanga Forest area one can enjoy the sights of different bird species and some of these include the Bateleur, Black-bellied Bustard, Coqui Francolin ,Rufous-bellied Heron, Brown-chested Lapwing, Brown Parrot, Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, Red-headed Lovebird, Ross’s Turaco, Green Wood-hoopoe ,Bare-faced Go-away-bird as well as the Common Scimitarbill, Long-tailed Cisticola ,White-headed Barbet, Yellow-breasted Apalis ,Red-faced Barbet, African Finfoot ,Nubian Woodpecker, Red-shouldered Cuckoo-shrike, White-winged Tit and Grey Crowned Crane among others.
Rubanga Forest is also prominent birding area that can be accessed by use of a vehicle or on foot. The rare species here include the Red-faced Barbet which is only got in Lake Mburo in the whole of Uganda .Visitors are recommended to make arrangements with the warden in advance.
