Enjoying Chimpanzee Trekking and Habituation experiences in Kibale –Uganda Safari News
Kibale
forest park is most popularly known due to the presences of various
primate species in the park and the park being the only protected area
in Uganda with the highest number of the chimpanzees that are surviving
in the dense evergreen forest of Kibale .Chimpanzee trekking is the dominant activity in that park which is attacking most of the travelers to book safaris to Uganda
.The activity starts from Kanyanchu area located in the middle of the
forest park and this means visitors have an added advantage of exploring
the loviest evergreen tropical forests of Kibale when searching for the
Chimpanzees.
Chimpanzee trekking starts from Kanyanchu Visitor Centre early morning at 08.00 am and afternoon time at 2.00pm and the activity takes approximately 2-3 hours of maximum enjoyment and learning to chimp trekkers on their Uganda chimpanzee trekking safaris. Primate walk in this park gives tourists an opportunity to search for the thirteen well known species of the primates housed in the park. The most famous and desired to watch by the visitors who usually take safaris to Uganda is the world endangered species of the Chimpanzee. The chances of meeting this human like brothers living in the forest jungle of Kibale is 95% because the park is home to the largest number of chimps in the whole of Uganda and East Africa region in general.
The other interesting primates that visitors should look for while participating in the primate walk in Kibale are rare white and black colobus as well as the red tailed monkey plus the unique and not easily found in other protected areas called the grey cheeked mangabey. During the time when the travellers are searching for the primates, the experienced guides that will be guiding visitors will be showing them the interesting pitas bird species and other unique species of birds which tend to play along the trails where chimpanzee trekking is done.
The other impressing experience in the park is Chimpanzee Habituation Experience. The chimp community works together with the Chimpanzee Habituation Experience and opportunity is given to visitors on their Uganda safaris to walk together with the Habituators and Kibale's researchers to go and watch the chimpanzees earily in the morning when they their respective nests especially between 6:00am to 6:30am before they start their daily activities. During morning hours one is expected to see the chimpanzees coming out of their respective nocturnal nests and visitors can follow them until late when they again make new nest where they will spend the next night most at 7:00 pm is when they rest from their daily activities.
The Habituation Experience usually done when its low season where few tourists visit the park and this especially in the month of March, April, May and November. The interesting experiences here include knowing how chimps feed and enjoying how they couple as well as breastfeed their young ones among others.
