Buhoma region where the community campsite is located is one of the regions in Bwindi national park where visitor on Uganda gorilla safaris
can easily enjoy gorilla trekking activity .The region was the first to
be initiated and mountain gorillas habituated for tourism purposes and
hence its well-known by many visitors .However gorilla trekking
activities in Bwindi are too hectic because it involves hiking
different hills and this mean one needs nearby accommodation facility to
relax and refresh after the tiresome trek and hence Buhoma community
Rest Camp presents the best option to budget travellers.
Buhoma Community Rest Camp (BCRC) is budget accommodation as a result from Buhoma Community Development Association. The money that was gathered from the association activies since the association started in the year 1993. The accommodation facility is situated at the extremity of Bwindi Impenetrable national park and it was built with aim of offering quality lodging services and facilities to travellers on their gorilla trekking safaris in Bwindi.
The accommodation facilities are offered to visitors by the six Well-built bandas that are decorated with an African traditional and Architectural local Design .The Bandas are also built by use of the local Materials and each room is well furnished. The bandas range of 4 - 6 bed basing on the Banda's Size and visitor’s need.
The campsite also has well organized and open ground where visitors can enjoy Camping activities near the Edge of the beautiful Impenetrable Forests.
The campsite also has Mini Bar with all local and some international drinks & Restaurant which serves both African traditional cuisines mainly Ugandan and Western Cuisines.
The accommodation facility also has a local craft and Arts Center where locally made crafts are sold and therefore visitors can buy these locally made products which range from the hand woven bags to more interesting sculptures as well as baskets made from local materials.
The community campsite also organizes or makes arrangement for tourists on the gorilla’s safaris but staying in this facility to have cultural encounter with the local community through Local cultural Dance & Drama groups which the lodge tends to invite to entertain the visitors.
The facility also enables its visitors to have Cultural walk to tour the Batwa communities (Pygmies) who are the traditional inhabitants of the Bwindi impenetrable forests and by the end of visitor’s gorilla safaris in Uganda, he or she will testify that Uganda is the pearl of Africa.
