The French National Museum embarked on an exhibition from February to March 21 in Paris’s Jardin des Plantes under the title of “ On The Track Of Great Apes” whose aim is to enhance awareness of the apes lifestyle in the tropical forests and the threat that surround them. At the same time, the French Embassy in Nakasero Kampala, Kriefs and the Museum show cased their works. The pictures of chimpanzees relaxing and feeding with people watching them along with the surrounding communities were very rewarding to look at. The photographic exhibition helps to bring out the closeness that exists between humans and chimpanzees. For example in one of the pictures, the chimps were seen collecting food and taking a nap in the other. The Uganda’s Minister of Tourism acknowledged the photos noting that these are testimonies that humans should commit themselves to environmental protection rather than its destruction. The amazing pictures also feature a range of findings that were gathered from extensive ape studies by National Museum of Natural History. The chimpanzees are very interesting to encounter face to face on Uganda safaris and tours in Kibale National Park, Budongo and Kalinzu Forest Reserves not forgetting Kyambura gorge and Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
