Uganda‘s mountain gorillas have greatly attracted many gorilla trekking safaris to the country, this has however helped in increasing the revenues of the country and also helping in developing the tourism sector since mountain gorillas are considered to be the main income earners of the country.
Uganda’s tourism sector has mainly focused on wildlife, especially on marketing and promoting mountain gorillas which has helped in increasing gorilla tracking safaris in Uganda, this has helped in raising the revenues of the country since the foreign exchange has increased in the country,
However, the choice of travel increases day by day and the tourist are increasingly looking beyond gorilla tourism for other experiences; this means that Uganda has to do some changes in its products that are sold to the tourists in order to increase the number of safaris to Uganda.
The rapidly changing nature of tourism trends in Uganda has made the government of Uganda to look for ways of diversifying the tourism products through advocating alternative forms of tourism which has helped in increasing safaris in Uganda. These include; marine, faith-based, medical tourism. Tourism diversification is expected to further boost travel and tourism revenue and also strengthen Uganda’s economy.
