The effect of reducing gorilla permits to Uganda’s tourism sector- Prime Uganda safaris & Tours news safari updates
Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable National
Park have helped in the development of the tourism sector. This is because
gorilla tracking safaris have increased due to the presence of mountain
gorillas. However, reduction in the gorilla permits especially in the low
season can greatly increase on the gorilla visits to Uganda.
It has been discovered that during the months of
April and May, there are low numbers of travellers who come for safaris to
Uganda and it’s always considered as a low season in Tourism. Therefore,
reducing the prices of gorilla permits will help in attracting more gorilla
trekking safaris to Uganda.
Reducing the price of mountain gorilla permits is
also a way of promoting the tourism sector in Uganda, hence more visitors will
be attracted by the low prices and this will help in developing the country.
Uganda Wildlife Authority has always announced the
reduction in the prices of the permits were by the non residents always pay
$350 from $ 500 to trek mountain gorillas and the Ugandans pay only 135,000 to
go for gorilla expeditions in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Gorilla trekking safaris to Uganda are bound to
increase once the price of gorilla permits are reduced since it becomes cheaper
to trek mountain gorillas at the same time engage in other safari activities which
include , Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale national park, viewing game or animals
in game reserves, engaging in cultural tours and city tours.
Reduction in the price of gorilla permits will also
encourage domestic tourism in Uganda since most nationals take the activity of
mountain gorilla trekking expensive, however this reduction will encourage them
to participate in gorilla tracking adventures.
