A new tourism marketing strategy for the tourism industry- Prime Uganda Safaris & Tours Safari updates
Gorilla expeditions in Uganda are on an increase due to the introduction of a new tourism marketing strategy which is to help in locating most of the tourist destinations in Uganda. The Pearl Guide Uganda which
is a local media plat form magazine recently launched Uganda’s first
mobile guide destination application called the “Uganda Guide app” which
is the very first of its kind in Uganda and it will provide all the information about Uganda’s tourist destination sites,
show maps of how to get to those places, all the contact numbers of the
service providers in the tourism industry and other vital information
that visitors might need.
Scott DeLisi, the American ambassador to Uganda said that this
is a great example of private sector participation in tourism. He said
that with this kind of application, some people from far say from Tokyo
can sit in his home sipping coffee and use the app to take a tour around
the pearl of Africa.
Meanwhile, Maria Mutagamba who is the minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities appreciated
the introduction of the app especially since according to Statistics,
there are more people that use smart phones and computer tablets to
access the internet than the more traditional forms such as laptops and
desk computers and this is what has partly motivated Pearl Guide to
develop the app, so said according Rutare Rutahigwa who is the marketing
manager.
This is an innovative way to promote and also help people to know more about Uganda
since there are so many people all over the world using smart phones
and tablet PCs thus the reason they have come up with an app to tap into
this market.
At
the moment, there are about 5,000 people that have downloaded the app
because it is still free both on the Google Android play store and Apple
App store but then the Pear Guide will very soon start charging hotels
and other service providers that are list on it. And will help many
people to know exactly what they expect to see while they travel for safaris to Africa particularly Uganda.
