Surface travel in Uganda made easier – Uganda safari news

uganda tours , uganda safarisUnlike in the past where the road network in the country was very limited and the nature of roads horrible, the Government has attempted to invest widely in the road infrastructure connecting to various parts of the country some of which are visited on Uganda Safaris and tours.
The Surface travel still remains the commonly used travel means because of its reliability and affordability. Few domestic flights are operated to specified destinations including National Parks such as Murchison Falls, Kidepo Valley, Queen Elizabeth, Mgahinga Gorilla and Bwindi Impenetrable – the main Uganda gorilla safari destination but one can record that the numbers are considerably lower if compared to those that travel by road.
Traveling by surface has been made easier not only by improvement in road infrastructure but also by the rise of car rental service in Uganda with a range of cars including 4X4 Extended Safari Land cruisers, 4X4 Safari Vans, ordinary Land cruisers along with minibuses and buses available for hire across the country but majorly in Kampala and Entebbe.
However, some parts of the country still feature challenging road sections especially in the rainy season. Areas of Karamoja to the north east of Uganda where Kidepo National Park is located and the Kigezi Highlands to the southwest – the home of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park always call for the use of strong vehicles such as 4X4 Extended Land Cruisers to help with the manoeuvring of the muddy and slippery landscapes.
Depending on the number of passengers, the saloon cars in Uganda are available for individual or small group travel while the medium vehicles like land cruisers can be used for groups not exceeding seven (7) Passengers while the Coasters and buses serve bigger groups with interest of keeping together.
