For this once gorilla trekking experience, Prime Uganda safaris and tours limited will need you to purchase your gorilla permit in before the beginning of your trip. A maximum of 8 people per trekking group are allowed to trek every day.
It is therefore so crucial to book gorilla permits before the trip. We strongly advise any traveler to book ideally 2 months in before the trip to ensure that you can track on the exact preferred date.
Uganda gorilla trekking safari permits cost $600 per person in high season (December-march and June-October) and $450 per person during the low season (April, May and November). Gorilla permits are issued by the UWA (Uganda Wildlife Authority) and must be paid fully in advance.
The cost of a Rwanda gorilla trekking safari permit is $750. This includes park entry fees and must also be paid fully in advance. Rwanda gorilla permits are issued by Rwanda Development Board and will be purchased on your behalf by prime Uganda safaris and tours limited.
Any safari visitor who shows any signs of a communicable disease such as a cold or flu will not be allowed to go for the gorilla trekking activity and if the visitor is also declared unfit for the trekking activity especially due to illness or any other disease, 50% of the gorilla tracking fees will be refunded to the client as subject to the orders of the UWA warden tourism in charge. Visitors, who also track the Mountain Gorillas and are un-able to see them for whatever reason, will be refunded 50% of the gorilla trekking permit fee. Purchasing a gorilla trekking permit is not a guarantee that Mountain Gorillas will be seen. The minimum age allowed for visiting the mountain gorillas is 15 years old below that will be illegal.
By following these mountain gorilla trekking rules and through the purchase of the gorilla permit, you are contributing to the conservation of the endangered mountain gorilla.
These respective wildlife authorities use the funds generated from the sale of your gorilla permit to manage the national parks. 20% of park entrance fees is given back to the local projects for people living adjacent to the national parks in Uganda. However contributing to these communities helps improve natural resource management and gives local people around the park a positive link to conservation.
