Uganda to host Commonwealth Parliament summit this September – Uganda Safari News

Uganda has got another opportunity to market its tourism sector on the 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Summit in September that it will be hosting. The speaker of Parliament in Uganda; Hon. Rebecca Kadaga revealed this at a conference.

Ms Kadaga who returned to office on Friday April 26, 2019, was speaking at the official launch of the web portal [www.cpc2019], an interactive site with rich information about the Conference and the different Tourism aspects that will attract tourists for Uganda safaris, short Uganda wildlife safaris, Uganda wildlife safaris, Uganda gorilla safaris, Uganda chimpanzee safaris, Uganda adrenaline adventures, Kampala city tours, Jinja city tours and many more.

The Speaker says that, “the conference is an opportunity to market Uganda to other Commonwealth Countries” adding that: “there will be revenue generated from over 500 delegates who will spend at least a week in Uganda.” The event which will take place at the Commonwealth Resort in Munyonyo, Kampala from September 22-29 is expected to cost about Shs20b ($5.3 million). Uganda last hosted the conference in 1967.

Ugandans will be allowed to exhibit and sell their different products to the delegates like the crafts, food products as well as Uganda cultural safari entertainment.

“There is going to be money in the economy and population in the short run but in the long run, we shall be marketing our country for tourism and investment,” said Ms Kadaga. On the implication of the recent kidnap of an American Tourist, Rebecca Kadaga said that, it was unfortunate that a tourist was kidnapped.

 “Our role is it to consistently assure our delegates of their security while in Uganda.” She went on to advise the delegates to either come early or slot in two or three more days to enjoy the beauty of Uganda.

When asked about the issue of Visas for the delegates, the speaker said that, “as a Commonwealth country, delegates can get Visas on arrival.” “We met President Museveni and expressed the need to write to fellow Commonwealth Countries, to allow delegates travel and get their Visas in Uganda” Kadaga added.

During the summit, Kadaga said, a number of issues affecting the legislatures across the world will be discussed.
