The 9 Days mountain hiking safari Uganda or Mount Elgon hiking trip in Uganda is a mountaineering tour in Uganda to Mount Elgon National Park blended with a Sipi falls hike and Jinja source of the Nile tour. A professional Uganda safari driver guide, picks you up for a drive to a hotel in Kampala from where you are driven to Eastern Uganda the next day. You hike the three beautiful Sipi falls and take a hike to the peak of Mount Elgon 4,321m above sea level. The hike takes 5 days then after continue with your safari to Jinja for white water rafting at the source of the Nile. From Jinja you are driven back to Entebbe International Airport for a departure flight.

Day 1: On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you are transferred to an accommodation facility in Kampala. Day 2: From Kampala, your driver guide will transfer you to kapchorwa where you have lunch and go for a sipi falls hike in the evening. Day 3: Your driver guide will transfer you to Kapkwai hiking center after breakfast where you will have briefing and start the hike to Tutum caves. Day 4: From tutum camp, you continue the hike kajeri where you spend the night. Day 5: After breakfast, you continue from Kajeri to Mude camp and spend the night here. Day 6: From Mude camp, you hike to the peak at Wagagai then after return to Sasa river camp where you spend the night. Day 7: You descend from Sasa camp to Budadiri hiking center then be driven to Jinja. Day 8: After breakfast at your lodging facility, you go for white water rafting at the Nile river then relax in the evening. Day 1 of the 9 Days mountain hiking safari Uganda / Mount Elgon hiking trip in Uganda

Your arrival will be at Entebbe International Airport-Uganda’s International Airport where you meet a knowledgeable Uganda safari driver guide for a transfer to a booked accommodation in Kampala. Your safari guide briefs you on the whole safari and helps with the transfer one of the booked hotels in Kampala-Uganda’s capital.

Day 2 of the 9 Days mountain hiking safari Uganda / Mount Elgon hiking trip in Uganda

Early morning, your driver guide will pick you up after you have had breakfast for a drive to Eastern Uganda as early as possible to start the drive to Kapchorwa in Mount Elgon National Park. Upon arrival, you will check into your booked hotel, have lunch and then go for a sipi falls hike in the evening. Hiking to the top of the sipi falls is one of the best activities that offer you an opportunity to have a glimpse at the beautiful plantations and have an amazing hiking experience.  In the evening, you return to your prior booked close accommodation in Mount Elgon National Park for dinner and relaxation.

  After early breakfast, you are transferred to Kapkwai for the start of the hiking experience after briefing that take about 30minutes. For about 7-8 hours you will be hiking to reach sasa river camp though it depends on your physical strength. Your guide will arrange the ranger guide, camping gear, food and the porters then you will hike to Tutum caves. You spend the night at tutum camp with meals prepared by a porter. Because of the installed sturdy staircases by Uganda Wildlife Authority, this hike is easier as you go past the steep rainforest and bamboo forest landscapes.

After breakfast at the Tutum camp, you will proceed with the hike through the beautiful landscapes to Kajeri. You will have meals prepared by a porter and you camp through the night at kajeri.

Day 5 of the 9 Days mountain hiking safari Uganda / Mount Elgon hiking trip in Uganda

From Kajeri, you have breakfast then continue with your hiking tour in Uganda to Mude camp. Going past several physical features of the mountain, you will arrive to Mude camp where you spend the night.

Day 6 of the 9 Days mountain hiking safari Uganda / Mount Elgon hiking trip in Uganda

You will walk through the moorland zone from Mude camp to Wagagai peak 4321m above sea level. It is recommendable to reach the peak before midday when the peak isn’t covered by cloud cover. After reaching the peak, you return to sasa river camp for an overnight.

After breakfast, you descend from sasa river to Budadiri where you started your hike. You then have Lunch in Mbale town and continue with the drive to Jinja town. Driving for about 145km for 2h 34min, you arrive to Jinja where you check into a booked accommodation at Jinja source of the Nile. Here you relax and refresh for the rest of the day along the shores of the Nile River-the world’s longest river.

Day 8 of the 9 Days mountain hiking safari Uganda / Mount Elgon hiking trip in Uganda

In the morning, you go for white water rafting at the Nile River where you get crazy and refresh from the hike. The white-water rafting experience starts at 9:00am, with practical experience before you get into the water. Alongside kayakers, you start the rafting experience definitely with an expectation of getting wet, you are given refreshments during the raft. After rafting, you have lunch then after return to your lodging facility where you spend the night.

In the morning, you go for a Jinja city tour after breakfast at your lodging facility. After a view of the beautiful architectural designs within the town, you continue with the drive back to Entebbe International Airport going past the beautiful greenery of plantations. You go past the bustling Kampala city to Entebbe International Airport for a departure flight after your Uganda safari.
