Day 1 of the 11 Days birding safari Uganda wildlife tour / Uganda birding tour

When you arrive at Entebbe international airport, a Uganda bird watching safari driver guide will be there to welcome you to Uganda, gives a briefing and then ensures all your transfers to a hotel/lodge in Entebbe. On arrival at the hotel/lodge, you check in, relax and have dinner at your lodging facility as you relax and prepare for a rewarding road trip on a 4x4 safari vehicle to the Mabamba wetland.

In the morning after breakfast, you embark on a journey to Mabamba wetland 26km from Entebbe with a drive time of about 1h 12min. The route via Kasenje includes a ferry crossing where you spend about 23 minutes on the ferry offering the best time for water bird sightings. Along with your knowledgeable Uganda birding safari guide and a paddler, you go through the narrow channels of the wetland marshes in search of the beautiful feathered birds. Morning hours offer the best opportunity to sight the shoebill stork as it finds its prey (mudfish). You have lunch at Nkima forest lodge then drive to Nkima forest in search of the forest bird species before return to Kampala where you spend the night.

By 7:00am, your birding driver guide will pick you up for a drive towards Murchison falls national park with a stop at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for several savannah bird species sightings as you track the only Rhinos in Uganda on foot. You will then continue with your drive as you sight several savannah bird species along the kafu-Masindi stretch where you will see several Warblers, Savannah Apalis and weavers. You spend the night at an accommodation facility in Masindi.

After breakfast at your accommodation facility, your driver guide will pick you up and start the drive to Royal mile in Budongo Forest for a memorable birding excursion through this moist forest at the edge of the Albertine rift. In the evening, you will be driven through Bugungu wildlife reserve which has a wide range of savannah bird species then enter into Murchison falls national park for dinner and an overnight stay at a booked accommodation in Murchison falls national park.

Early morning, you will be driven to Murchison falls national park for a morning game drive that will last about 2-4 hours. After the game drive, you have a lunch break for about 1 hour then you will be driven to the boat cruise start point where you come along the natives of the surrounding areas playing local instruments in which you can involve in by either dancing or trying to play the instruments. At the base of the thunderous falls, you then start the hike to the top of the falls where you meet your driver for a return to your lodging facility. You start the day with early morning breakfast then after get into Kibale forest in search of the forest bird species especially the Green-breasted Pitta. Bird watching in Kibale forest starts at 7:00am at Kanyanchu, with a flourishing tropical rain-forest this is one of the very attractive and striking forests within Uganda. Within the forest are 82 species of Guinea Congo forest-biome plus 32 species of the Afro-tropical highland biome species.
