Akurut takes over miss tourism Uganda

Akurut paulineThe Miss Tourism Uganda Contest for the year 2015 is noted to be one of the glamorous and exciting events that have features on MICE list of Uganda safari products occurring annually. The 2015 event that came to an end on 28th August 2015 at the top notch Kampala Serena Hotel and Akurut the 19 year old beauty Queen from Teso land emerged the winner of the contest.
It can be noted that the event was a glamour and glitz affair styled with red carpet set up with a big turn up of the people both local and foreigners on safari in Uganda. The magical touch could not have been any better considering the fact that the event was held at the prestigious Kampala Serena Hotel.
With the show kicking off at around 8am with a thrilling band warming up the audience before the famous city emcees Flavia Tumusiime and Roger Mugisha opened the six (6) hour function officially. The 6 hour event came to an end with the announcement of Pauline Akurut as the 2015 Miss Tourism Uganda beating hands down the twenty one (21) girls who had made it to the grand finals. It was a moment of mixed feelings among the audience as a certain section cheered in support while others depicted their disbelief.
The count of 22 beauty Queens depicted their cultural wear and the creative wear before they were reduced to 10 following the eviction of 12. The remaining ten (10) were subjected to counts of questions amidst close scrutiny from the judges who were in control. It can be noted that some contestants attempted the questions with great confidence while others made struggles to create impression.
The girls were further put to question and it is from this session that Akurut Pauline made it to the top and emerged the winner. The second runner up became Sheila Kirabo hailing from Ankole while Nyangan Karen from the region of Karamoja emerged the 1st runner up.
The highlight of the Miss Tourism Uganda event crowning session was when Bahati Aisha a 20 year old blind was declared Miss Tourism Independent. Among the great talents she had included the hair styling that enabled her to beat Joan Namubiru who opted to depict her skills of dancing. The two were rewarded with 200,000 Uganda Shillings along with gift hampers courtesy of radiant the notable platinum sponsors of the event.
Miss Tourism Uganda has grown overtime enabling people from different corners of the country to appreciate the value of tourism and recognize various products that surround them which can be developed and be visited by travelers on safaris in Uganda.
