MUHABURA HOTEL; AN IDEAL BUDGET ESTABLISHMENT TO TRACK GORILLAS IN RWANDA - RWANDA SAFARI NEWS
Rwanda is one of the destinations in East Africa that is known for gorilla trekking safaris
alongside canopy walk in Nyungwe, Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe and
Rwanda wildlife safaris in Akagera National Parks. Being a lucrative
activity, the gorilla trekking have on Volcanoes National Park receives
enormous numbers of travellers most of which are gorilla trekkers. The

various proprietors have come up with different establishments to enable
wellbeing of all classes of Rwanda gorilla safari undertakers.
Muhabra Hotel positioned in the district of Musanze along the Gisenyi road offers an ideal budget establishment for travellers undertaking gorilla safaris in Rwanda. Established in 1956, Muhabura was the initial stone constructed building in town featuring Indian shop style whose materials are largely the volcanic big boulders. Initially, it was named Hotel Mimosa and King Rudahigwa used to spend an overnight at this establishment during his Rwanda safari tours. In 1968, Otto Rusingizandekwe acquired its ownership and he made efforts to add some rooms but maintaining the architectural design. Upon acquiring it, he changed the name to Muhabura citing it as a reference point. In 2007 -2009, the hotel was further expanded to accommodate the growing numbers of Rwanda gorilla tour undertakers by adding more sixteen (16) rooms while apartments were constructed on the north side.
The hotel praises its self for having hosted the lesading world gorilla conservationist Dian Fossey during her times at the Rwanda gorilla camp. She used to put up in room 12. Muhabura hotel boasts of a range of guest facilities among which unclude the following; Balcony, Camping, Children Playground, Conference facilities, Garden, Gift shop, Parking, Restaurant and Bar, Sauna and massage. These are designed to ensure comfort among the travellers on safari in Rwanda.
