The lake is found in south western Uganda between Kabale and Kisoro. This lake is the second deepest lake in Africa and one of the few lakes in the region that is free of bilharzia and safe for swimming. The lake dotted has 29 islands of natural beauty which is concentrated in the central part. The lake has limited settlement and is mostly used for tourist facilities by tourists on Uganda safari. The lake is a habitat for different bird species which has attracted many Uganda Safaris. About 200 birds can be seen while on Nature walk or forest walk and on Boat cruise, the lake is free from Hippos and Crocodiles thus an excellent place to chill and relax and also the best place for swimming.
