ANTI HOMOSEXUALITY LAW DECLARED NULL AND VOID – UGANDA SAFARI NEWS:

On 31st July 2014, the Constitutional Court of Uganda declared the anti-homosexuality bill null and void. The resolution came after the pro-gay activists challenged the enactment of the law in the court on grounds that the parliament had no quorum to permit the passing of anti-gay law.
The law which criminalizes same sex partners was tabled as a private members bill by David Bahati a Member of Parliament representing Ndorwa West constituency and assented by the president of the Republic of Uganda in to a law in February 2014.
Though this law was largely welcomed by the citizens of Uganda, it sounded bitter to the international community more especially the western world thus threatening safaris to Uganda.
The Uganda safari undertakers hail from different back grounds some of which are same sex partners. Most thought that the law might hinder the experience in Uganda while on their gorilla tracking, chimpanzee safaris or wildlife safaris.
However, the law had not had a substantive effect on travellers on Uganda safari during its period of operation. Now with its nullification, it can be predicted the hearts of potential same sex Uganda safari undertakers will feel at ease something that might end up increasing safaris to Uganda.
