This Silverstone Aeroplane is said to be a 56 seater plane that had passengers on board with 5 crew members and 50 passengers on board, two of which were injured during the crash.
It got the challenges on an attempt to take off. The preliminary report shows indicate that there might have been an engine failure tilted to one side, however, Silverstone Air, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and managers of Wilson Airport are yet to issue a statement of the mishap.
Silverstone Airplane CrushThe plane has two engines which failed at 9 am,” reported the pilot. However, according to witnesses, the right-wing dipped before the crash. The wing was bouncing around hard in the wind. This is when the pilot realized that one of the engines was in trouble as smoke was rushing out of it hence opting for an emergency landing. At this point, the crying, screaming and rumbling of the plane had come to an end. Images from the scene showed that the aircraft plunged into a thicket, hitting some trees and breaking part of its wing that tilted it to one side as it hit the ground
This emergency landing was a hard impact on the plane as well as the passengers on board, some got minor injuries and others were successfully evacuated from the plane. The casualties were rushed to Nairobi Hospital for medical attention. Emergency response teams hurried to the site to ensure everything goes well. There were no fatalities reported. “The passengers and crew have been safely disembarked and we are currently working with the relevant authorities to assess the situation.”
Silverstone Airplane CrushNever the less, “The Aircraft Accident Investigations Directorate, under the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, is carrying out investigations to establish the cause of the accident,” read part of a statement by the Kenya Airports Authority.

The plane which skid off is a Fokker 50 of registration number 5Y IZO with a serial number of 20244. It was manufactured in 1992 by Fokker aviation of Netherlands. It first entered service with Icelandair Domestic and was commissioned by Silverstone from Air Iceland Air in 2017.  The Fokker 50 is a turboprop-powered airliner, designed as a refinement of and successor to the highly successful Fokker F27 Friendship.
