AMONGIN CROWNED MISS TOURISM TESO – UGANDA SAFARI NEWS:

Tourism in Uganda is apparently the leading foreign exchange earner for the country followed by remittances from abroad and coffee. This can be attributed to the increase in the numbers of Uganda safari undertakers for the previous years. In return, the country’s tourism developers and planners are aiming at developing tourism that is sustainable and thus, can transform the lives of the local people. This has given rise to regional tourism clusters. In the initiative of strengthening of these clusters to ensure development of the products that can be encountered by travellers while on safari in Uganda, the Miss Tourism attempt has been considered to be among those innovations.
Last Friday, 26th Sept. 2014, the event for Miss Tourism Teso cluster was held at City Royal Resort Hotel, Bugolobi to choose the best girls who would be crowned Miss Tourism Teso region. At the end, Sandra Amongin a UCU graduate from Bukedea district rose as number one beating other six girls who had picked interest of holding the flag of Teso as a regional Uganda safari destination.
The Amongin’s win did not come on a silver plate since all the contestants proved to the expectations of the judges. The advantage for her triumph rose when she gave a clear flow of the origin, migration and settlement of the Iteso unlike her counter parts. Amongin together with other two runner ups will represent the Teso sub region on 17th October at Kampala Serena Hotel for national Miss Tourism Uganda competitions. The result of all this will be Miss Tourism Uganda who will take up the mantle of marketing Uganda in her generating markets so as to ensure increase in Safaris to Uganda.
