Uganda & Libya signed pact likely to promote tourism in both countries.


In February 2013, Uganda and Libya signed a memorandum of understanding that is to promote trade and Uganda safaris-Uganda tours among these countries. In effect the pact brought into force by the signed memorandum by the visiting Libyan Roving Scouts to Uganda in Feb shall improve networking between east Africa scouts with their Libyan counterparts. According to Mr. Idris Elahalafi, a former Libyan chief, stated that they want to give line of hope to their Libya youth through such cultural exchange programs that after war peace can prevail as reconciliation as well. The deputy general manager the tropical scout himself, also observed that more Libyan tourists would safari Uganda once an ambassador of Uganda to Libya and vice versa is appointed.
He further disclosed that Uganda has no Libyan ambassador like in many other nations there is but we are optimism this standing block to trade and cultural exchange tours between these two countries. Once this is done, this issue will be sorted out so that we can boost trade and cultural exchange visits among the two nations i.e Libyans taking on Uganda safaris and vice versa will increase.
The week-long camp at Kazi national scouts camping ground that was attended by the Libyan scouts 16-25 years of age together with 50 other youthful scouts from Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda and South Sudan as well.
The director resource mobilisation and capacity building at the Uganda Scouts Association, Mr. Moses Engadu,  narrated that the cultural exchange and camping was purposed to enhance environmental sustainability, peace, and development -the fundamental aspects of scouts.
According the executive secretary of Uganda Scouts Association, Mr. Richard Okello, the Libyan scouts made a Uganda safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Sipi Falls in Kapchorwa as well as to other cultural & heritage sites across Uganda.
Mr. Okello further said that apart from scouting, the Libyan scouts will inspire other Libyans to visit or safari Uganda.
Hassan Diban, the Libyan scout team leader, stated that the visit had opened their eyes to Uganda’s beauty.He intimated that what they had seen and experienced, was not what all of them knew about Uganda. According to him, Uganda is the` paradise of the world’.
He promised that they shall lobby for more tourists to safari to Uganda.
