This 10 days Mount Elgon hiking safari in Uganda or 10 days Uganda mountain hiking safari is a mountain hiking and adventure tour in Uganda to Mount Elgon National Park, Jinja source of the Nile tour and a visit to the Nyero rock paintings. The 10 days safari is one great package for tourists who would love to relax on the lush countryside on the hills and plains of Eastern Uganda. The trip starts from Entebbe international airport on arrival then to Jinja source of the Nile. You hike Sipi falls on the third day then ascend mount Elgon on the fifth day and then descend on the eighth day. You visit Nyero rock paintings on the ninth day then end the trip with a drive back to Entebbe international airport for a departure flight.

Day 1: You arrive at Entebbe International Airport where you meet your Uganda safari guide for a transfer to a hotel in Kampala.

Day 8: You descend from Sasa camp to Budadiri hiking center then relax for the rest of the day.

Day 10:  After breakfast, your driver guide returns you to Entebbe international airport for a departure flight.

Day 1 of the 10 days Mount Elgon hiking safari in Uganda/10 days Uganda mountain hiking safari

On arrival at Entebbe international airport, your Uganda tour driver guide welcomes you to the Pearl of Africa, gives a briefing on the trip and then ensures all your transfers to a hotel/lodge in Kampala. On arrival at the hotel/lodge, you check in, relax and have dinner at your lodging facility as you relax from jet lag and prepare for a rewarding road trip on a 4x4 safari vehicle to the countryside the next day.

After breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up for a drive to Eastern Uganda’s Mount Elgon National Park driving past Mabira forest. The first stop is made at Jinja which is the source of the Nile River where you take a boat ride to the source of the Nile, after about 1 hour you then have lunch and then continue with the drive to Mount Elgon. You arrive in the evening, check in and have dinner at a booked accommodation in Mount Elgon National Park.

In the morning after breakfast, you take time in the beautiful countryside to visit the foot hills of Mount Elgon to Sipi Falls filled with a beautiful backdrop. On a full day hike, you are able to visit all the three Sipi falls to this beautiful flower filled paradise, birds, waterfalls and streams. Anticipate to spend a day in this beautiful haven with picturesque waterfalls and caves. Here you will take several memorable pictures then after return to your lodging facility in the evening.

After early breakfast, you are transferred to Kapkwai for the start of the hiking experience after briefing that take about 30minutes. For about 7-8 hours you will be hiking to reach sasa river camp though it depends on your physical strength. Your guide will arrange the ranger guide, camping gear, food and the porters then you will hike to Tutum caves. You spend the night at tutum camp with meals prepared by a porter. Because of the installed sturdy staircases by Uganda Wildlife Authority, this hike is easier as you go past the steep rainforest and bamboo forest landscapes.

After breakfast at the Tutum camp, you will proceed with the hike through the beautiful landscapes to Kajeri. You will have meals prepared by a porter and you camp through the night at kajeri.

From Kajeri, you have breakfast then continue with your hiking tour in Uganda to Mude camp. Going past several physical features of the mountain, you will arrive to Mude camp where you spend the night.

You will walk through the moorland zone from Mude camp to Wagagai peak 4321m above sea level. It is recommendable to reach the peak before midday when the peak isn’t covered by cloud cover. You will return to the Mude campsite for a night.

After breakfast, you descend from sasa river to Budadiri where you will have a meal. Your driver guide will be there ready to transfer you to an accommodation facility in Mbale where you spend the rest of the day relaxing from the hike.

By morning after relaxing from the hiking experience, your driver guide will take you on a relaxing drive to the plains of eastern Uganda in Kumi district. You pay a visit to Nyero rock paintings which are one of the most important rock arts in Uganda. You take a community tour as you drive back to your accommodation facility in Mbale.
