This riveting Uganda Safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park Uganda starts at Uganda’s International Airport in Entebbe. Entebbe is one of the major developed towns in central Uganda. It was gazetted in 1952 as Kazinga National park and later renamed as Queen Elizabeth National park in 1954 to commemorate the visit by Queen Elizabeth II of Britain. You will travel a distance of about 387.3 kilometres from Kampala.

After all, proceed to Masaka town, pass through to Mbarara city which is the largest and the most developed in Ankole region. In about 11 minutes connect to Ishaka, the largest town within the district, take Ntungamo-Katunguru road passing through to Kichwamba and finally connect to Katunguru, a small town in the Northern section of Queen Elizabeth National park.

This Uganda wildlife Safari National park is divided by Lake Edward and Lake Gorge which is separated by the 45km Kazinga channel thereby dividing the park into Northern and southern sections which are only linked by an artificial bridge across the channel in the Katunguru area. On the arrival in the park, you will enter the National park using the Katunguru gate either alternatively use Kabatooro gate for an African massage of about 8kilometers from the main gate to Mweya in Queen Elizabeth National park. The National park has different types of vegetation which include the acacia woodland, forest grassland, swamp vegetation and bushy grassland that make the place a comfortable home for the wild game that make it suitable for a Uganda wildlife tour.

Game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park

When you take a drive along the Janet track; it is commonly known for harbouring leopards, buffaloes and warthogs. Driving through this track enables you to view different bird species such as the black-rumped buttonquail, Chapin's flycatcher, Martial eagle, papyrus canary, African skimmer, Verreaux's Eagle and pink-backed pelicans among the many.

Ishasha sector game drive situated in the southern part of the park, you will be able to spot the tree-climbing lions in the fig trees in different tracks such as the campsite track. Besides lions, you are also rewarded with sightings of the different antelope species such as topis, Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks and hippos in the Ishasha River.

Alternatively, you can carry out a Night game drive which is only carried out at Mweya through the channel track. Enjoy game viewing of nocturnal species including predators such as the Kings of the Jungle hunting their prey as well as also leopards eating their kill up in the tree branches.
