Uganda Ranked 4th in the International Tourism Highlights Report

I am at least certain about one thing about travellers, every particular person has different interests and feelings for things. We all want to travel to destinations our friends have visited, those trending on social media platforms and the prominent ones of course! Many tourists have gathered enough imaginations in their heads or would love to visit countries that everyone talks about. This is why travellers interested in Africa safaris/ Africa tours never love visiting prominent countries like Uganda because it is famous for Uganda gorilla trek safaris, Uganda chimpanzee tours, Uganda wildlife safaris, Uganda bird watching safaris, Uganda adventure safaris, among the many. Kenya offers one of the best Africa wildlife safaris. Booking a Kenya safari/ Kenya wildlife safari gives you the opportunity to visit the prominent must visit Africa wildlife tour destinations like Masai Mara wildlife Reserve famous for its wildebeest migration, Nairobi National Park is the only park situated in a capital city, Amboseli National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park famous for its flamingos to mention but a few.
Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, Arusha National Park, Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro crater, Lake Manyara National Park are one of the must-visit destinations in Tanzania usually visited by travellers on Tanzania safaris.
Despite the hiked prices, no traveller would want to visit Rwanda and see mountain gorillas. Though expensive, the process and time you spend with these gorillas during your Rwanda gorilla tour/ Rwanda gorilla trek safari in Volcanoes National Park are worth memories.  Don’t miss out too on visiting Nyungwe National Park famous for its chimpanzees and canopy walk. But really, would you visit Rwanda and not have a Kigali city tour? It is a beautiful city though with a dark past. However, this has not stopped it from gaining its glory. There lot more countries/ destinations everyone would want to visit in Africa like South Africa, Madagascar, Malawi, Congo etc.
However, before you select your final destination, you must put in mind that not all destinations are the same. Some destinations are hot, some are not. Some are boring while others are interesting, others are developed and some are still developing. Therefore, the only way to figure out this stuff out by pure feel, visit the country and see what takes place there? how does it feel…!.
Of recent, the United Nations World Tourism Organization recently released its annual International Tourism Highlights report, which details the countries where tourism has grown the most, and where it has declined or fallen the furthest ranging from those that are hot and those that are not.
HOT
Ecuador – 51%
Considering South America as your next destination? Ecuador should be among your next travel destinations. Topping the International Tourism Highlights report list Ecuador has a jump from 1.6 million to 2.42 million visitors. That’s pretty good going considering the rest of South America. Do you know why everyone is suddenly going to Ecuador? This is because of the Galapagos Islands. More than 10% of people who travelled to Ecuador last year visited this unique archipelago, making it a pretty phenomenal number.
Iran – 49.9 %
This is one of the destinations that bring joy in the hearts of travellers that visit it. Iran’s numbers might be small as it had 7.3 million visitors in 2018, compared to France which had 89 million. Its numbers are increasing sharply. More and more people are being drawn to Iran, one of the world’s most misunderstood countries which is good. Be wise and make it your next destination before everyone else does.
Egypt – 36%
Besides its Biblical part, Egypt has experienced some troubles in recent years but today, it just good news. Its relative calm on the political part of it has led to a resurgence for the local tourism industry, with international visitors flocking back. The country’s numbers are not as they used to be they’re getting there.
Uganda – 31.9%
Uganda’s business is still booming despite the political situations in the country. Famous for its mountain gorillas, Uganda has steadily had increasing numbers for tourists interested in gorilla safaris Uganda/ Uganda gorilla trekking tours in the country’s west.
Nepal – 24%
Looking for News? Don’t miss out on reading this! Nepal suffered terribly from the earthquake in 2015, which destroyed much of its tourist infrastructure. However, they have rebuilt it and here they are: the tourists are returning to Nepal, with a 24% jump in 2018.
Slovenia – 23%
Slovenia nailed it! Indeed it is a big hitter. Many people didn’t know about it but however small, the big word is getting out. Slovenia has good food, nice landscapes, the fairy tale villages and its beautiful rivers and lakes. This is a perfect alternative besides Switzerland or Italy. People are clueing on it so don’t be left out.
Palestinian Territories – 20.5%
The good stories about the Palestinian Territories are the Palestine cops. This place is fascinating, friendly and beautiful to visit. The territories are popular with pilgrims of various religions, making it a good place to visit especially those that want to visit sacred sites.
Vietnam – 19.9%
Everyone loves Vietnam, and why wouldn’t they? The country is cheap, it’s friendly, it’s beautiful, and the food is spectacular. In 2010, only 5 million people visited Vietnam. Last year that number was 15.5 million. I would say get there before everyone else does, but they’ve already been but you can still be among those next year.
Georgia – 16.9%
Georgia is a criminally underrated secret destination. It is an upcoming destination that deserves more credit than it gets. Apparently, however, it’s time to postpone that conception since Georgia is on the up, with almost 5 million visitors last year. If we have a look at Australia, a huge, famous place to be, it only had over 9 million. The difference is just small.
South Korea – 15.1%
Korea has been popular for a few years now, but what’s amazing is its continued rise. More than 15 million people visited last year. And what drew them there? The excellent air connections? The safety? History? Gangnam-style fashion? The food? Probably a little of everything. Miss it out on your next travel destinations at your own risk.
NOT
South America – 1.2%
South America as a whole was pretty steady last year, but that’s mostly because of Ecuador, plus Colombia was up 7.4 % and Argentina was up 3.2 %. Brazil was flat. The rest of the continent though? Shocker. Uruguay was down 5.6 %, Chile was down a huge 11.3 %, and Paraguay took a whopping 24.3 % hit. So what’s the deal? Hard to say exactly, but after a boom for a few of these countries recently, maybe this is a natural realignment.
Qatar – down 19.4 %
Qatar was another country that took a big hit, reflected by Qatar Airways posting a loss of $944 million last year. Much of that has to do with the country’s forced embargo with neighbours Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain, who have cut diplomatic ties with the country.
Puerto Rico – down 19.2 %
Here’s another one that’s easy to explain, given the devastation wrought by Hurricane Maria in September 2017. Puerto Rico will take a while to recover from that one.
United Kingdom – down 3.5 %
Most countries around the world are trending up. There are more people travelling than ever before, so you don’t have to work too hard for growth. And yet the United Kingdom struggled in 2018, with tourist arrivals down 3.5 per cent. That’s more than 1 million fewer people. It could be a Brexit effect. It could be that people want somewhere more exotic. Whatever it is, Britain is not hot.
Have you been to any of these countries recently? Visit any this December holiday or in 2020.
