Day 1 of the 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo gorilla, hiking, chimpanzee & golden monkey trekking safari/ 10 Days gorilla safari Rwanda: Pick up from the airport and do a Kigali city tour

Upon your arrival at Kigali airport in Rwanda, our professional driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to Kigali for a city tour. Your safari guide will take you around various sites in Rwanda’s capital city such as the Kigali convention centre, National Museum, Presidential palace, and the Kigali genocide memorial centre among others. Retreat from the Kigali city tour, check in your accommodation, dine and spend the night there.

Day 2 of the 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo gorilla, hiking, chimpanzee & golden monkey trekking safari/ 10 Days gorilla safari Rwanda: Transfer Nyungwe Forest National Park

After your morning breakfast at the lodge or hotel, you will be picked by your driver guide, transfer you to Nyungwe Forest National Park, driving for about 6-7 hours to the south western part of the country via the rolling hills across Rwanda. You will have lunch en-route, arriving at the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 of the 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo gorilla, hiking, chimpanzee & golden monkey trekking safari/ 10 Days gorilla safari Rwanda: Do a chimpanzee trekking safari in Nyungwe Forest and canopy walk in the afternoon.

Chimpanzee trekking safaris in Rwanda start early in the morning at 8am with a briefing from the ranger guides at the park headquarters. After your early morning breakfast at the lodge, your driver guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for your briefing about the do’s and don’ts of during trekking and then hike with your rangers into the forest to trek the chimpanzees where you will watch the play, laugh, make funny sounds in their natural habitat. During your chimpanzee trek, you will also encounter other animals such as the elephants, colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and countless bird species. Retire from trekking, have lunch and do your canopy walk in the afternoon. This walk lasts about 2 hours giving you breathtaking views across the misty forest and the sightings at the eye level of the variety of wildlife that live in the canopy.

Day 4 of the 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo gorilla, hiking, chimpanzee & golden monkey trekking safari/ 10 Days gorilla safari Rwanda: Leave Nyungwe Forest National Park and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will have your morning breakfast at your lodge, at around 9am, you will be transferred to Volcanoes National Park in Kinigi via Gisenyi in Ruhengeri. This journey takes about 5-6 hours. You will pass via tea plantations with a spectacular view of the neighboring communities and other beautiful sceneries arriving in the park in the evening. Check in your accommodation, have dinner and rest.

Day 5 of the 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo gorilla, hiking, chimpanzee & golden monkey trekking safari/ 10 Days gorilla safari Rwanda: Do a gorilla trekking safari in Volcanoes National Park

You will be required to take your breakfast very early in the morning since your required to be at the park headquarters early in the morning for a briefing that starts at 8am. At around 7am, you will be picked by your safari guide together with your packed lunch to the park headquarters for your briefing at 8am from the park rangers about the do’s and don’ts of gorilla trekking. and transfer to volcanoes national park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about a gorilla trekking safari in Rwanda. You will then hike into the forest with the park rangers and an armed guide to search for the gorillas in their natural habitat. After spotting the gorillas, you will spend an hour with them where you will watch them feeding, eating, playing, building their nests, and many more. This activity roughly takes about 2-8hours depending on where the gorillas are. In the evening after the trek, you may go for cultural encounters and interact with the local people. (optional). Transfer back to the lodge, freshen up, dine and relax.

Day 6 of the 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo gorilla, hiking, chimpanzee & golden monkey trekking safari/ 10 Days gorilla safari Rwanda: Drive to Goma, cross to Congo and hike Nyiragongo

After breakfast at your hotel, you will embark on your journey and transfer to the mountain trail head at Kibat Patrol Post in Nyiragongo Volcano. Your driver guide will take you around for a beautiful drive to Nyiragongo that towers above its own lava flows from the previous eruptions. Upon arrival at the trail head, you will embark on the climb of about 5-6hours to the top of the Volcano. You will be accompanied by two armed rangers / guides who will guide you as you do your walk. As part of your adventure, your hike to the summit of the volcano will reward you with spectacular views of the flora and fauna gorgeous at lower elevations. As you get high during your hike, you will have stunning views of an old crater to Lake Kivu. Amazingly, you will see the lava pool inside, it is scary but simply incredible. Your night will be spent in tents on the rim of the giant crater, high above the active lava lake. Warm clothes and a sleeping bag are essential as it will be very cold and windy all night.

Day 7 of the 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo gorilla, hiking, chimpanzee & golden monkey trekking safari/ 10 Days gorilla safari Rwanda: Return from Nyiragongo and drive back to Kigali for your flight back home

After an early morning breakfast, you will begin descending down by 7am from the summit of Nyiragongo to the head trail in Kibat Patrol Post. Arrive at the trail head before lunch and transfer back to the lodge to have lunch and relaxation. After lunch, embark on transfer from Goma to Kigali for your scheduled flight back home.

 Day 8 of the 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo gorilla, hiking, chimpanzee & golden monkey trekking safari/ 10 Days gorilla safari Rwanda: Transfer to Mgahinga National Park at your lodge and visit the Batwa communities Early in the morning after your breakfast at the hotel, you will transfer to Mgahinga National Park in Uganda. You will travel a distance of about 96 km driving for about 3 hours. You will arrive in at around lunch time, check in, have lunch, relax and prepare to visit the Batwa communities in the afternoon. Retire from the activity and return to your lodge and rest.  

Day 9 of the 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo gorilla, hiking, chimpanzee & golden monkey trekking safari/ 10 Days gorilla safari Rwanda: Do your Golden Monkey trekking safari in Mgahinga National Park and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and relax On this day after your early morning cup of coffee or breakfast, you will drive to the Mgahinga head quarters where the you will be given a briefing about the do's and dont's of the golden trekking safari in Uganda. After the briefing, you will be led into the forest in search for the golden monkeys. This takes about 4 hours, return from the the activity have lunch and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi where you will relax. You will take an afternoon boat cruise Along Lake Bunyonyi, return to your lodge and relax.

You will have lunch in Mbarara at the Igongo Cultural center. Continue with your journey to the equator for photographs and the polar water experiment. Continue with your journey to Entebbe at your hotel or to the airport for your flight.

Mountain Gorilla Behavior,Diet,Threats and Predators
