rhinoA Uganda safari cannot be completed without engaging a visit to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary.Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch is located in Nakasongola district and is the proud home of the only wild rhinos in Uganda. The Rhino re-introduction project is a project of Rhino Fund Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Its  conveniently located 176km (100 miles) north of Kampala on the Gulu highway towards Murchison Falls (branch off at Nakitoma trading centre). Ziwa is the only place where you will be able to see rhinos in the wild.
Presently the sanctuary is home to twelve (12) southern white rhinos – six (6) Adults, three (3) adolescents and three (3) babies. Two of the adult females are also expected to give birth next year. The sanctuary has become increasingly popular with tourists and this has increased Uganda safaris to Uganda.
There are many activities that can be engaged in by the visitors at the sanctuary and these include; Rhino trekking which is the main activity is done by the tourists while at the sanctuary, Bird watching which is liked by those interested in birding, the sanctuary provides a variety of bird species to the visitors, The guided nature walks which is also a major activity participated in by the visitors at the sanctuary. Camping is also an important activity especially for those tourists whose safari in Uganda is to take a long period of time.
These activities have greatly attracted many safaris to Uganda and this has improved the tourism sector with in the country. The sanctuary has got many accommodation facilities which have catered for the visitors who visit the sanctuary and these include the restaurants, the lodges and hostels.

Mountain Gorilla Behavior,Diet,Threats and Predators
