Arrive at the Kigali International airport where your 6 Days will start. After early morning breakfast at your lodging facility, you and your driver-guide will head to the Virunga Park headquarters with your packed lunch, water, headgears for a briefing about your gorilla tour Congo/gorilla trekking tour in Congo. Wake up early in the morning for your breakfast at your hotel. You will be picked by our driver guide so that you can set off for Kibati Patrol post, where the Nyiragongo Volcano hiking safaris Congo start from. Hiking safaris to Nyiragongo officially start at 9 am in the morning, with a briefing about the hike and what to expect. After the briefing, you will start hiking with your guide and armed guards to ensure you have security. In the morning after breakfast, you will descend to the bottom of the mountain and transfer to Kahuzi Biega National Park where the lowland gorillas of Congo habit. Drive to Bukavu where you will connect to the boat /ferry to cross to Bukavu town in Democratic Republic of Congo along the magnificent lake Kivu; one of Africa’s largest fresh lakes. While taking a ride on the lake, you will spot the beautiful islands and different bird species that habit there. Upon arrival in Bukavu; the nearest town to Kahuzi Biega Park. Arrive at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 of the 6 Days Congo gorilla safari tour & hiking safari trip: Eastern lowland gorilla trekking
Like we did when going to trek the mountain gorillas, you will have early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing packed lunch. Drive to the park headquarters for about 45 minutes for briefing about the Eastern lowland gorillas. You will then set off to your fascinating experience of the lowland gorillas in the valleys of Kahuzi as you encounter different mammals, birds and primates. This experience lasts about 2-8 hours’ experience in the jungle, depending on their movement. Upon seeing them, you will watch them interact/play with each other as you take photos and videos for memories. Depending on how you will be feeling after the trek, you have an option of visiting, Tshibati waterfalls if you are still strong from the hike or visit Lwiro Primate Rehabilitation Centre (LPRC) near the park. Later in the evening, transfer to your lodge where you will spend the rest of your day relaxing, dinner and overnight.
Day 6 of the 6 Days Congo gorilla safari tour & hiking safari trip: Transfer to Kigali and Departure.
After breakfast at your place of stay, you will travel back to Kigali at a hotel or to Kigali International airport to catch our flight back home.
