How to get there

About Mihingo lodge
Mihingo Lodge is a luxurious lodge, peaceful and exclusive retreat adjacent situated in a magical setting adjacent to Lake Mburo National Park with spectacular views over a vast savannah landscape. There are 10 private and comfortable tents on wooden platforms under thatch roofs, all with en suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, showers and flushing toilets. The main dining area is a large thatched structure built of rocks, the wood of dead weathered olive trees found on the land and native grasses. Below the dining area, an infinity swimming pool stretches out from the rocks and seems to disappear into the vast landscape beyond. From the dining and pool area, guests can enjoy the view of a westward oriented valley and its stunning evening sunsets over Lake Mburo National Park.
This lodge was built using local materials mixed with large rocky boulders on the site and decked with the local Ugandan artifacts to make it more African. This lodge was designed by the German owners and it consists of over 10 luxury tented rooms built on a wooden platform and covered by a thatched roof. The rooms are tailored to suite comfort of the guest therefore each of room has an en-suite bathroom with the hot and cold running water, a veranda and a flushing loo. The lodge has also got a thatched dining area as well as a swimming pool with beautiful views over the lake plus a tennis court. Even though there are no exact child facilities present, the children of all ages are welcome to come and stay at Mihingo Lodge. The food and meal times can also be attuned to suit well with the younger guests and then babysitting can be arranged for those that need it.
Each luxury tented room is nestled on a private piece of the lodge’s property, enabling guests to enjoy
the tranquil environment in complete seclusion. Placed in varied settings, some rooms are situated in a forest, some with a lake view, and some on rocky outcrops.
Animals that gather in the valley provide guests with fantastic game viewing opportunities or a chance to relax and watch wildlife at water hole below the pool including buffalo, eland, impala, warthogs, bush buck and zebra can be seen at the waterhole. On the rocks you may have the rare chance of seeing the resident family of Klipspringers. It is not a guarantee that you will see every animal but chances are high that you will see many of them. Many of them are seen during the game drives in the park.

Electricity, hot water, and water pumps are powered by solar energy and there is a natural water catchment system to take advantage of the rains.
Activities offered by the lodge
This lodge gives horseback safaris in the valleys towards Lake Kacheera outside Lake Mburo National Park. Horseback safaris are an exciting way to see wildlife in and around Lake Mburo National Park. Without any engine sounds and fumes you feel part of nature and often get the chance to see the timider animals.
Another option outside your 4x4 safari van, 4x4 safari land cruiser or 4x4 minivan vehicle at Mihingo is to take one of their mountain bikes out to explore the bush. Tracks are suitable for a gentle family ride, or for the intrepid, more extreme terrain is available. Bikes should be booked in advance.
