uganda golf tournamentThe Team Uganda is proud to have won the golf championships 2015 in style after they won six (6) games in the last singles action to neutralize the South African record and take up their tittle. This event hit Kampala by storm and a range of golfers undertook the safaris to Uganda.
Uganda is credited to have become the third country in winning the premier Africa golfing event following Kenya and South Africa respectively. The Team Uganda started its winning moments after Adolf Muhumuza the team Captain dispatched Nelson Simwa a Kenyan player (3&2) – 3 before Happy Robert and other player Ronnie Bukenya won their respective games against Swaziland and Botswana challengers. The challenge was attended by a range of spectators among which included visitors who were on safaris and tours in Uganda.
Other contributions wins were made by Lawrence Muhenda and Henry Lujja against Simfukwe of Zambia and Charles Kambalame of Malawi respectively and lastly Martin Ochaya who won Gabriel Shikodi of Namibia. The Team Uganda worked around the strategy of playing a regulation game as a result of the grown roughs. These wins allowed the country Uganda to be up lifted to the continental scene and increase its golfing popularity on the world scale which might end up attracting golfers to do Uganda safaris to participate in such games.
At last the eventual standing points for the respective participants were 18.5pts for Uganda, 17.5pts for South Africa, 16.5pts for Zimbabwe, 15.5pts for Kenya, 9.5pts for Zambia, 9.5pts for Swazi land, 8.5pts for Malawi and 5pts for Namibia.
The golfing event is an addition to the range of products that the destination Uganda boasts to possess including Mountain gorillas always encountered on gorilla trekking safaris in Uganda, amazing wildlife encountered on wildlife safaris to Uganda and chimpanzees encountered on chimpanzee trekking safaris in Uganda.
