THE TREE CLIMBING LIONS OF ISHASHA, QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK – UGANDA SAFARI NEWS

It is very unique and very uncommon to see lions dubbed the king of the jungle climbing trees. This rare occurrence is what makes the Queen Elizabeth National Park a paradise for Uganda safari undertakers. On the global scale, the tree climbing lions exist in two protected areas that is Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda and the second one is Lake Manyara National Park in southern Tanzania. This makes the tree climbing lions scares and unique to areas where they dwell from. The reason behind these lions’ tree climbing is not clear though speculations have it that they do escape from the hot conditions on the ground in search of the soothing cool breeze up in the trees while others put it that the lions are escaping from the bites of tsetse flies that characterize the ground. NINE (9) MONTHS GONE; THE MEMORIES OF MISHAYA SILVERBACK STILL FELT – UGANDA SAFARI NEWS:

Situated in Rushaga in the south of the gorilla trekking haven of Bwindi, Mishaya gorilla family was part of the greater Nshongi group before Mishaya broke away with females to form this new group. Comprising of 10 members with 1 silverback, Mishaya started up the group in July 2012 and is re-known for his fighting ability that enabled him to expand his group to this maximum. In fact in April 2011, Mishaya fought with a non-habituated group resulting into injury for him and a two (2) year infant. This shows how Mishaya was more than a man to stand in for the sake of his group whose existence has increased the opportunities for gorilla safaris . It is unfortunate to note that after all those endeavors; Mishaya lost his dear life at an age of 28 on February 3rd, 2014. T he European Investment Bank has always supported companies across East Africa and Uganda inclusive through offering investment capital. This support is directed at Small Medium Enterprises including tour and travel companies that are aimed at increasing safaris to Uganda . As part of this initiative, the European Investment Bank of recent approved UGX 45 billion about EUR 13million for the second time through the Housing Finance Bank for the support of local firms. This new credit initiative is targeting the companies involved in agriculture, manufacturing and tourism sector that deals in safaris in Uganda.
